Cancellation Policy

Golden Powder Guiding specializes in multi-day, lodge-based ski touring adventures. Our operations involve tight margins and limited flexibility, necessitating a clear cancellation policy that addresses the complexities of our service, including but not limited to the impacts of COVID-19.

COVID-19 and Unforeseeable Events Cancellation:

  • Government or Supplier-Related Closures: If GPG cannot operate due to restrictions by Canadian or provincial governments or closures of critical suppliers (including but not limited to Golden Alpine Holidays and Alpine Helicopters), clients may:

    • Rebook the same trip for the next available season, subject to availability.

    • Receive a partial cash refund, determined by the cancellation's timing relative to the trip date, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  • Refund Processing Fees: All refunds are subject to credit card transaction fees and administrative charges.

Standard Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation Timeframes and Refunds:

  • Lodge Trips:

    • Accommodations will be made to help clients with a substitute up to 21 days before the trip start date. Any period within this timeframe will be dependent on the availability of GPG staff to help.

  • Day/ Multi-day guiding:

    • These trips are non-refundable. GPG will provide the necessary documents to help clients with their travel insurance claims.

Transferability:

  • Bookings may be transferred to another individual, subject to GPG’s approval to maintain group dynamics. The original booking party is responsible for finding a replacement and must notify GPG at least 30 days before the trip start date.

Travel Insurance:

  • Bookings should be made with a credit card offering travel insurance.

  • Guests must carry comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellations, medical expenses, and travel-related issues.

Uncontrollable Circumstances Cancellation:

If GPG cannot provide services due to uncontrollable factors (e.g., road closures, adverse weather, vehicle malfunctions, above-acceptable avalanche hazard, treacherous ski conditions), we reserve the right to withhold up to 50% of the service cost. The decision to invoke this part of the cancellation policy is at the discretion of GPG and its guides and is non-negotiable.

Additional Considerations:

Environmental Considerations:

Cancellations due to environmental concerns (e.g., forest fires) will follow the standard cancellation policy unless otherwise determined by GPG.
