What is basecamping all about

This isn't glamping with a view. This is a full-on wilderness basecamp in the Selkirks, Purcells, or Canadian Rockies — flown in by helicopter, set up by a team that cares deeply about every detail, and guided by two ACMG-certified professionals who live for this stuff. Wake up. Eat well. Ski incredible terrain. Repeat. This is what we built Golden Powder Guiding for.

The Camp Setup

Sleeping Tents — North Face VE 25 & Mountain 25 Guests sleep in industry-leading North Face expedition tents — the VE 25 and Mountain 25 — supplied by our partners at The North Face. These are the same tents used on the world's biggest mountains. Burly, warm, and bombproof. You bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat; we take care of everything else.

Kitchen & Drying — North Face Dome 5 A dedicated North Face Dome 5 tent handles all the cooking and gear drying. Wet skins? Damp gloves? Leave them in there and find them ready for tomorrow.

Living & Dining — 2-Metre Dome Our spacious 2-metre communal dome is the heart of camp. This is where the group comes together after a big day — hot meals, good stories, aprés drinks, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you're deep in the mountains with no distractions.

Basecamp Particulars

The Team

Two certified ACMG guides lead every trip, backed by a dedicated camp chef. The guides handle the terrain, the snowpack, and the safety — the chef handles everything from breakfast through dessert. You just have to show up ready to ski.

Flights

We fly with White Tooth Helicopters out of Golden, BC. All helicopter flights are included — in, out, and anything in between. No hidden costs, no per-head calculations on the day. We handle it all.

Food & Drink

Our chef takes care of every meal. Expect a solid breakfast to fuel the morning, a packed lunch and snacks for the field, and a proper dinner with dessert back at camp. Aprés is covered too — because no basecamp day is complete without it.

Who BASECAMP TRIPS FOR

Ability Level

This trip is designed for advanced backcountry skiers and splitboarders who are comfortable in committing, variable terrain. You should be confident in steep lines, experienced with avalanche safety equipment, and fit enough to ski big days in a remote alpine environment. If you're looking for a groomed warm-up run, this isn't your trip — if you're ready to earn some of the best turns of your life, it is.

Trip Length

Each basecamp runs for 6 days, giving you five full days of guided skiing and splitboarding in terrain most people will never see. Enough time to find your rhythm, push your limits, and not want to leave.

Pricing

Basecamp pricing is confirmed at the time of booking. Helicopter costs in the mountains are influenced by weather, flight efficiency, and logistics that can shift trip to trip — rather than pad the price to cover every scenario, we work out the actual cost with you directly and keep it as fair as possible. Get in touch and we'll put together the numbers for your trip.

Avalanche & Crevasse Rescue Training

On your transfer day, before the skiing begins, we run through avalanche rescue practice and basic crevasse rescue techniques as a group. This covers transceiver searches, probe and shovel protocols, and rope systems so everyone is on the same page before we head into the field. These are refreshers, not a course — we expect all guests to arrive with a solid foundation in avalanche safety and glacial rescue already in place.

If you're heading into glaciated terrain and haven't done a formal glacier travel and crevasse rescue course, we strongly recommend completing one before your trip. An ACMG-accredited program or equivalent will put you in good stead and means we can get into the bigger objectives faster once we're out there.
